The New Hampshire Cultural Diversity Awareness
Council will host the Fifth Annual Diversity Conference & Expo
for Business and Education on
Wednesday, October 3, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at the Radisson Hotel, in Nashua,
NH (formerly The Sheraton Tara).
The theme of the conference is, "Practicing
Cultural Sensitivity and Corporate Social Responsibility". J. Christopher Williams, President and CEO of the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce
will be serving as the Moderator and Master of Ceremonies
The annual NHCDAC diversity conference for business and education is designed to
help New Hampshire businesses, government agencies, and institutions
to embrace diversity and its benefits. The focus of the discussion
will be on understanding and promoting cultural sensitivity and
corporate social responsibility. The conference topics will connect
attendees and panelists with open and honest dialogue on subject
matters such as:
- The implementation of best practices
- The value of having diversity reflected in a company's business policies
- Corporate social responsibility is the right thing to do, as it connects to the
bottom line.

The keynote speaker is Andrew Tarsy, Executive Director of the Anti-Defamation League
(ADL) New England Region. Tarsy has been ADL New England Regional
Director since August 2005. He has been with the Anti Defamation
League for seven years, previously serving as ADL's Civil Rights
Director for the northeast region.
Before ADL, Tarsy was an
attorney at the law firm of Nixon Peabody in Manchester, NH.
He was also a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division at the
United
States Department of Justice under the leadership of Deval Patrick.
Tarsy cut his teeth as an advocate working for the release of
Jewish families in the Soviet Union in the 1980s. He witnessed
first-hand
the power of anti-Semitism while traveling in Russia documenting
conditions for Jewish refuseniks who were trying to get out.
He also witnessed the results that could be achieved when the targets
of oppression have allies who are willing to stand up and speak
out. Tarsy is a graduate of the Roxbury Latin School and Cornell
University and received his law degree with honors from the George
Washington University.
Other speakers and panelists include Mike
Whitney, President
of Bank of America-NH, Kristina Norris , HR Manager, Pepsi Cola Bottling,
Northern New England Market Unit and Christopher Hottel, Acting Superintendent,
Nashua Public Schools. The luncheon event will be preceded by
a workshop
in implementing, and promoting, corporate social responsibility
