| 2006 Best Practice in Cultural Diversity Awareness Nomination Criteria |
| Thank you for your interest in nominating a company, non-profit, government entity, or individual for the Best Practice Award. All nominations should be received by the NH Cultural Diversity Awareness Council (NHCDAC) by Tuesday, September 5, 2006. |
NHCDAC's mission is to increase awareness of the need for communication, understanding and respect among people of ethnically and racially diverse backgrounds. Through community events, educational programs and alliances with corporations, educational institutions, government agencies and non-profit organizations, NHCDAC addresses the important issues of multiculturalism facing our nation today. In keeping with our mission and the goals of the conference, we have created the Best Practice Award that will be presented at our 4th Annual Diversity Conference on Tuesday, September 19, 2006.
The focus of this year’s event is to build awareness about cultural diversity in the community and in the workplace, particularly as they relate to ethnicity, women, and people with disabilities.
Nomination Submission Criteria:
- Include your name, address, phone number, and other contact information.
- Answer the question of:
- “Why do you feel this individual, group, or organization should receive the Cultural Diversity Awareness Award?”
- Please try to include information in your essay submission (up to 2 pages) which indicates:
- How the nominee has contributed to the betterment of a culturally diverse community or workplace
- How they are a role model to other organizations and individuals.
- Example(s) of how the nominee has removed barriers or otherwise contributed to cultural diversity.
- Additional references and resources can we use to verify the award should go to this recipient. Application might also include auxiliary materials, i.e. newspaper articles or in-house publications.
- Return your submission to Best Practices Committee, NHCDAC, P.O. Box 1391, Manchester, NH 03105-1391 or nhcdac@aol.com by September 5, 2006.
All qualified nominations will receive a Certificate of Nomination. Early submissions will receive a listing on the NHCDAC website prior to the event. There will be one Best of the Best award, and several categories of Best Practice awards. These categories may include one each of: business, education, non-profit, government, and individual, or any other categorical system established by the Best Practices Committee prior to the event. Submissions will be weighed based upon the nominee’s impact on improving conditions for women, minorities, and people with disabilities in the workplace, in the community, in the public presence, in government contracting, in encouraging economic development with socially disadvantaged businesses, and in community development within culturally diverse neighborhoods.
